Learn to Speak French Software – 3 of the Best French Courses Reviewed

If you want to learn to speak French, software as opposed to the classroom is the way to go these days. Compared to tutors or classes it’s very cheap and you can set your own schedule. The first program is…

-1 Fluenz French

Fluenz French is a course that’s only recently been released, which means that not many people have heard of it. This learn to speak French software gives you an explanation in English of what you are about to learn, and then commences with the lessons in French, which is quite unlike some other learn to speak French software which relies on immersion. While definitely not flawless and quite expensive compared to other options we will get into, Fluenz is quite good.

-2 Rosetta Stone French

Rosetta Stone has been around for a while, but they do release new versions every so often to keep up with its young competitors. Rosetta Stone is completely different in its attempt to help you learn to speak French, the software aims to immerse you in the French language without translation or drills, making it completely different to Fluenz. Some people love this method, and indeed if you stick to Rosetta Stone you will do well, but the language that you learn is very formal and lacks the zesty phrases and words with which French is so rich.

-3 Rocket French

Rocket French is also quite new, and it’s a program I found only after using another course to help me learn French. Rocket French has multiple sections to it, audio, written/reading and software games that develop your speaking and grammar. I’m a fan of Rocket French because it’s tailored for the beginner; it’s fun, is well rounded and compared to the courses above is very affordable. Flaws are that the audio section is not comprehensive compared to other courses and the shipped version is quite expensive, but if you can download it then it’s very cheap.
