Becoming fluent in a second language can take years if you don’t want to sound like the proverbial tourist. However you may not have the time to devote to learning it like the usual student. But You Can learn to speak French quickly and relatively confidently in a very short time using something called an immersion method! Perhaps you want to learn French because you are being transferred for your job – or to win the chance of a promotion.

You may be planning the trip of your dreams to France. You may have heard that French is the language of love and want to woo your sweetheart. But whatever the reason, mastering a second language will add a new dimension to your life. Using traditional methods would mean your conversation could sound formal and stilted, but our way of teaching produces a more informal level of conversation in French that would have you sounding like a native.

You are able to learn the basic phrases in French fast and once you have that knowledge you can build up to a level that means you will speak the language with a level of confidence that no matter where you are and no matter what the situation, you’ll be able to handle it.

Let’s look at the most commonly used phrases in day to day life.

Do you speak French? = Parlez-vous Francais?

Just a little = Un petit peu

Repeat please = Repetez, s’il vous plait

More slowly = plus lentement

I don’t understand = Je ne comprends pas

I don’t know = Je ne sais pas

OK = d’accord

Hello = Bonjour

Yes/No = Oui/Non

Goodbye (for now) = Au revoir

Please = S’il vous plait

Thank you = Merci

You’re welcome = il n’y a pas de quoi

Excuse me = Excusez-moi

These are just a few of the very basic phrases you will start out learning and with the immersion method you will not only have visual pointers but you will also be able to hear how the words are pronounced by native French speakers. Using both of these things combined enables you to absorb and retain the lessons more effectively.

All languages carry with them a degree of difficulty, and French is no exception. In this article, an experienced language teacher examines some of the beginner problems students have, and provides ways to avoid them and make learning French far easier.

When you undertake to learn any language you are opening yourself up to a completely new learning experience. With any new learning experience you are likely to experience differences, and therefore difficulties of various sorts. That means if you are looking to learn French beginner problems may occur. In this article I am going to point out the main issues for those wanting to learn French.

The first French beginer problems you are likley to encounter lie in the realm of pronunciation. French is notoriously difficult for English speakers to pronounce well, but if you bear in mind certain factors, you can helpt to keep this problem at bay.

First of all, take time learning the French sounds, before you emnark on further study. Learn words and simple phrases to start off with, copying the voices you hear on the audio component to your course (and, by the way, a French audio comonent featuring native French speakers is indispensable, so dont try and learn without one), and comparing your pronunciation to that of the native speakers.

When you are comfortabel with the pronunciation, then you should start to learn the mechanics, or grammar of the language, using your course, be it book and CD, or software.

Your next obstacle will probably be the linguistic concepts of the language. What you hae to remember is that French and English are, gramatically, very different. If you have heard that you can just pick up a language without studying the grammar of that language, then you have been mislead. Such an approach is a recipe for disaster. Take your time to learn the basic concepts early on, and admittedly, while you might experience some frustration (which is a typical side effect of learning anything new, and nothing to be alarmed about) early on, you will find it benefits you greatly further down the line.

The third of the French beginner problems we shall look at, and a typical one I have noted is that of students complaints about being unable to understand French. In the early days it is to be expected that you will be unable to understand fluent French. The problem lies simply in not having the desired level of French at your disposal. Of course, some French will allow you to understand some, or on occasion, all of what is being said or communicated. But with patience you will find that, the more French you learn, the better your understanding of French will be.

The secret to learning any language is persistence. You will encounter problems, and difficulties but if you keep on keeing on, French beginner problems will soon give way to understanding and success.

Learning a language is one thing, but learning to speak it like a native speaker is quite something else! While French is notoriously difficult for foreigners to pronounce perfectly, it is possible if you set your mind to the task, and you have reliable advice to follow. In this article, I offer such advice, which will help you to improve your French pronunciation enormously.

Learning to speak French like a native French speaker? Can it be done?

There are several factors that are to be considered if learning to speak French like a native is in your sights. We are going to examine those factors that are essential if you are going to give yourself a fighting chance of achieving this rather ambitious goal.

The first factor, and an essential one, has nothing to do with the study of French itself. This factor is your mindset. If you are just starting out, you have a long way to go, and there will be challenges and frustrations along the way, for sure!

There will even be times when you feel like giving up, but dont! Im not telling you this to put you off, I just want you to know that learning to speak French like a native is a challenging task. If you enter the task with a massively strong resolve, you have a better chance of succeeding than most.

Next, you must undertake a course of hard study, or rather applied and focussed study over a long period of time. Start from the basics using a course that provides an opportunity for advancement in the language. You need a good, solid basic course with an audio component. Work at the language learning grammar, vocabulary, phrases and idioms, and use any opportunity you can to practise your French with others, preferably native French speakers.

Now lets look at the two elements that will make you sound more French. Taking it as read that you have acquired an excellent, practical knowledge of the French language, you will need to concentrate on perfecting your pronunciation, intonation and fluency.

Improving pronunciation and intonation comes through listening to French, repeating what you hear into a recording device, and picking out the minute details between your pronunciation and that of the native speakers. This should be done over time, as adjustments to ponunciation are only really effectively carried out over time. Listen also for the pitch and tone (the intonation) and emulate that too.

That just leaves fluency, and that can be improved through immersion and usage of the langauge, as well as intensive practice at home. Put simply, a high degree of fluency means that you can select the correct language you require fast, and use it to express your ideas without hesitation nor error. Before trying to increase fluency, make sure of your accuracy in French, and then practise, practise, practise!

In conclusion, if you are set on learning to speak French like a native, you can certainly come very close with the correct application to the task

Learning to speak a language can become much more enjoyable, and you can muster far more motivation when you have a reason to learn it. In this article, you'll discover the key benefits to learning to speak French.

If you have ever been to France, or to a French speaking country, and become even a little immersed I the culture, you cannot have failed to wish to emulate the native French speakers with their command of a language many hail as the most beautiful language in the world. Mere lust for sound of the language is just one of the benefits of learning to speak French. In this article we are going to be looking at some of the others.

Mere love of the language is a reason in itself to learn French, but if you do become proficient in French, and with the right mindset and program of study there is no reason why you shouldnt, the opportunities for employments and advancement should be considerable.

There are over 176 million French speakers in the world, and French is an official language in 41 countries. It is also one of the official languages of the UN. In short, if you learn French, there are plenty of places in the world where you can speeak and use it for pleasure, and for business.

Contarary to common myth, not everyone in the world speaks English. It is true that English is studies all over the world, but that doesnt mean everyone who studies it at school will become proficient in it. You only need to head outside a big city in France, and youll find an abundance of opportunities to speak French.

There exists a further benefit in learning to speak French, that many people do not consider. When we learn a foreign language, we begin to use other parts of the brain that we have not used before. This accessing of previously dormant areas can lead to higher thinking and problem seolving abilities in other areas too.

How about becoming a polyglot, or a speaker of several languages? In fact, as French belongs to a family of languages knows as the Romance languages. Actually, this has nothing to do with romance; it refers to the fact that French is a language derived from Latin, in other words, a Roman language.

The patterns of French are similar to those of Spanish, Italian, Portuguese and Romanian. Any of these languages can become easier to learn once you have a knowledge of French under your belt. The vocabulary of all these languages aldo has common traits running through it that you can use as learning aids.

The benefits of learning to speak French are numerous. All you have to do now is get started.
