Is learning to speak French your long time goal? When you start learning French, you have to start learning the expressions first and can slowly move on to phrases.

Do you want to learn a foreign language? Then start learning to speak French. When you start learning a foreign language, you have to start learning the expressions first and can slowly move on to the phrases. Take for example the word “robe”, which denotes “dress” in French. Try to use it in diverse ways until the word and its meaning gets stuck in your head.

While procuring a French phrase book, language learning software or attending language classes will certainly help you while learning to speak French, you must still consider how you’d actually be able to make use of your French communicative skills efficiently. This will be more helpful if you do not live in a French speaking country because you will not have the opportunity to practice your new skill set with the native speakers of French.

Apart from doing the regular exercises, you can also start learning to speak French more effectively by having a pen pal who will help you practice your French communicative skills. Similarly, you can also help your pen pal by correcting the language he or she is practicing. You can find the right pen pal from language exchange forums and chat rooms that render their services free of cost. Once you find the right pen pal do not share any details other than the actual language exchange because you never know who the other person really is.

With the advent of new technologies, learning to speak French and perfecting the languages with help of a pen pal is made more easy. Emails, chat, and Skype calls offer a more personalized and easy to use communication tools that will enhance your learning process

While having a pen pal will better help you while learning to speak French, do not just confide on him or her to perfect your communicative skills, you must never avoid your own lessons as well.

In case things are already starting to become somewhat dragging and you’re starting to lose interest in learning to speak French, modify your “lessons” by participating in new activities that are still related to France. For example, you can absorb yourself in French culture by watching French movies without subtitles or listen to French music and try to understand the lines all by yourself. Ask your pen pal for some good recommendations regarding movies and music performers or look them up on the internet. You can even try visiting some authentic French restaurants and learn the names of some delicacies. This will not only help you learn some new French words but also in learning the French way of life.

As long as you are interested in learning the language it certainly won’t be problematic for you to find some way to make learning to speak French interesting. Once you feel like you can carry a conversation all by yourself in French, then why not take a step and finally pay France a visit? This will be the ultimate test to try your French- speaking skills.

Learning French today is still as important in terms of social, cultural and economic advancement as despite the rise of the new economies of China, Russia and India, French is still the 2nd most popular language in the world.

Learning French is easy to do. There are many available options for you to choose from. A French class, tutor, video or audio program is the most obvious. There is also the online class method.

Many people go to France to vacation, or even live. This is a great reason to learn to speak French. When in France…I do not remember, oh… I think it was when in Rome. Learning a second language is always extremely valuable. Especially in today’s times.

You may need to learn French for your job. If you work in France, then knowing the French language is a highly useful skill to have. It is always great for the French people you are dealing with if you can understand their language. It is also better for you.

Web designers are even being asked to translate web sites into different languages. The reason for this is because much of the Internet commerce is done in many Countries. And as such they would need to have different language options available to people on their websites. This is becoming increasingly popular.

There are a lot of French Canadians living in Canada and so the French language is still strong there today. Many of those people come to the warmer clients of the United States like Florida for the winter. Learning French would be helpful in some of the businesses there.

French, to many people’s surprise, remains today the 2nd most spoken language in the world and large parts of the globe still use French as their primary language.

Learning to speak French can be done in your own time and in a way that you are best able to learn. There are options there for you if you need to learn French. Learning a new language is a great way to keep yourself occupied and is a very enjoyable pastime. Whatever your reason, it is a beautiful language to learn.

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but learning to speak French isn’t easy – although there are certainly things you can do that can make it easier. If you’re an English speaker (rather than Italian or Spanish for example) you’re starting from a particularly difficult position. Everything about French grammar and phrase construction is different. So let’s look at some French language resources that can make your life a good bit easier.

For a start you’ve got the internet and any number of websites where you can start to learn French for free. A quick browse through a search engine will turn up lots of places offering bits and pieces of free French lessons. OK, it’s probably not going to make you fluent, but you’ll certainly find a few sound clips and French MP3s so you can listen to things like the French alphabet and extracts from the language. Just listening and repeating is a convenient way to start to get the hang of how it feels to speak French yourself.

Some of the better online French language resources also offer short animated films of situations that you might come across on a trip to France. They’re a great introduction to learning about what happens and how to use the language in real French life and they’re entertaining too which always makes learning French easier.

Unfortunately to get any level of fluency you’re almost certainly going to have to pay eventually. Once you put your hand in your pocket a whole new world of resources opens up.

There are French language lessons (although attending regular classes can be a bit awkward if you have time pressures) or one-to-one tutoring (which might be a bit expensive). Either one is still an excellent approach though if you have a native French speaker as a tutor.

Then there are plenty of books of course, and I’m a great fan of a good read, but these days with various DVD and software packages that’s a less popular option.

It’s the software packages I’ve just mentioned which are probably the best French language resource available at the moment and their capabilities are in some cases close to a complete wish list.

You can get modern French learning systems that have interactive lessons with French MP3 sound clips (which you can copy so you’ve got lessons away from your PC), interactive flash cards for learning French verbs, short entertaining video sequences, thousands of pages of transcripts you can read and all with real French people speaking. On top of that you can get some with short try-before-you-buy courses so you can satisfy yourself before parting with your cash and even money-back guarantees.

And all this can be found for about the same as you would pay for one series of classroom lessons. For me, that’s the sort of French language resource I would be looking to take advantage of. It may not be easy to learn a foreign languages but programs like these make it as easy as is possible and fun too. I wish they had been available when I started to learn French!

Many people would say that it is difficult to learn French (or any language) independently and it can sometimes be difficult for someone to commit to learning on their own. I would argue differently though and say there are many really great reasons to learn French on your own.

There are a lot people who talk about the right way to learn to speak French and many advise against learning independently. I feel differently because though my own experiences I have learned that if the interest in learning French is there, independently may be the best way to go. Here are some good reasons to find a program and learn to speak French on your own.

Price- I am really motivated by a good price. For me it is the difference in whether I do or do not do something. While many independent language learning programs can be pricey, if you look around you may find a good deal on a quality program. See if your program offers an instant download version, sometimes this can mean the difference of $100.

Variety- Learning language independently allows you to learn in a variety of ways. For instance, the program I used has audio, illustrations, games, and a learning forum where teachers are on hand to help out if you need it.

Convenience- Simply put you learn on your own time and in your own way. This is beneficial because learning the way you want to prevents boredom. When we are forced to learn the way others want and on their schedule, there is the possibility of losing interest or falling behind.

These are just some of the great reasons why learning to speak French independently is a good idea. Really it is about learning in your own style and having fun. Find a program that appeals to you and learn at your own pace. Au revoir!

Even though you may not be studying a second language for academic purposes, there are many advantages to learning to speak French. Among other things, it will be an ideal way to converse with people from many different cultures. In particular, there are parts of Canada, as well as several regions of Europe where French is the primary language. Therefore, if you are interested in books, magazines, or even news related items from these areas, you will need to speak French. At the same time, if you want to converse with people in these regions, you will need to know how to speak their language.

During the process of learning to speak French, you will gain access to information about many different cultures. This includes historical information that may be of interest to you. For example, if you are interested in learning more about Europe after the Renaissance, you may find that a number of historical documents are written in French. As a result, learning to speak French may make it easier for you to read these documents for yourself, rather than having to rely on someone else’s translation. Without a question, if you are interested in certain periods of history, there is nothing quite like making use of your own translations.

While learning to speak French will take some effort, you will find it well worth the effort. Aside from learning for your own benefit, you may find that knowing French will help you secure certain kinds of jobs. On the other hand, if your son or daughter needs to learn a second language, you can always be of help when it comes to practicing this language. You may even find that you will want to start teaching your child how to speak French long before he/she ever has to take a class on this subject.

Taking the time to learn the French language can be a rewarding experience. It could also be overwhelming for the student at the start if this is the first attempt at learning another language.

Taking the time to learn the French language can be a rewarding experience. It could also be overwhelming for the student at the start if this is the first attempt at learning another language. To follow are three simple steps to help learn to speak French with confidence and fluency.

1. Good Listening Practices

To learn to speak French with confidence it’s essential to have listening skills and the ability to listen to the language being taught. Pay close attention to how the words are pronounced, how the accent sounds, and how the sentences flow. This all helps when it comes to actually speaking the language. To develop the listening skills, its possible to tap into several resources. Audio programs can be listen to, or find a French movie or music that can be listen to. It does become easier as the language is listened to more often.

2. Use the Language on a Frequent Basis

Spending a lot of time on vocabulary and listening to audio clips is just one element in the equation of learning a second language. If aiming to speak French in a clear and fluent manner its necessary to speak it on a frequent basis. Learning to speak French can often be a ‘use it or lose it’ situation, so finding a moment to use the language either with friends or family or even in a French restaurant can be a great benefit. If possible learn with someone that you can practice with. No matter the situation, its important to find ways of speaking the language and as often as possible.

3. Constant and Patience Improvements

One of the key points to learning a new language is to have patience. It isn’t going to happen over-night. Mistakes will be made, and some sections of a course will be more difficult to get to grips with than others. If serious about learning the French language its crucial to work through those mistakes and maintain the knowledge already gained. Some students will find learning a new language a lot more difficult than others, but it shouldn’t ready matter if tuition goes fast or slow as long as the commitment is there. As the studies continue the progress will be evident, so those minor setbacks ought to be ignored and to move ahead with the education.

If these three simple language learning tips are followed in can make things that much easier in the quest to learn to speak French.

Now I may be considered a bit of an oldie by some people’s standards – forty seven next birthday – but I can remember when the only ways to learn to speak French were lessons at school with dreadfully boring text books or boxes full of audio tapes that most people couldn’t afford. Now we have many new technologies to choose from and learn to speak French CDs are amongst the most popular for good reason.

You only have to browse through the products on offer at places like Amazon to find dozens and dozens of choices. Every aspect of learning to speak French is covered and every age range.

At their most basic there are the simple audio books – a CD you can put in your player at home or in your car. It’s much like the old tape systems in that you listen and repeat what’s said. Nothing wrong with that. Many, many people have learned perfectly adequate French using this kind of system. It’s not particularly fast and not particularly involving, but if you’re driving or doing something else where you can only listen it’s still quite effective. I quite often have a CD of this type on while I’m working on the computer. It may not have all my attention but the fact that it’s playing means I absorb at least some of it – even if that’s just getting used to the sound of French pronunciation. Every little helps and prices start from just a few dollars so everyone can afford them.

At the other end of the spectrum are the fully interactive French CD courses that you use in your computer. These have sound files that you can listen to, just like the more basic versions but they go far beyond that. Some have small movie clips based on real-life situations that you can watch and learn from. Some add interactivity to this – you have to choose the right answer from a selection. Some have interactive games and exercises to help you with the various aspects of French grammar. They also have written texts that you can print out and read. In a nutshell they cover all aspects of learning to speak French in a much more involving way often called “immersion” or “accelerated” learning.

There’s a price to pay for this sort of technology of course, the big well-known names like Rosetta Stone and Pimsleur will cost you hundreds of dollars to reach a good level of French. Whether that’s worth it is up to you. Certainly tens of thousands of copies of programs like these have been sold. Is it the easiest way to learn French? These systems are very good, no doubt about it, they will certainly help you learn French faster than any book ever did but before I say yes, this is the easiest way to learn French, there is one other type of course we should look at.

For the last couple of years there have been pure downloadable French courses. No CD or DVD just the software itself. This kind of delivery, like downloadable music and film, has been made possible (and practical) by faster internet connections.

The result is a couple of French courses that, because they are delivered digitally, offer the same sort of functionality as the CDs with all their advanced teaching methods and interactivity, but at about half the cost. As a result they’ve become very popular so before you buy your learn to speak French CD I would certainly look into these as an alternative.

Actually I’m the last person in the world to suggest throwing away books but if you’re trying to learn French there are software programs available now which are superior in just about every way to any book I’ve ever read. It’s a bit like someone’s taken the idea of something like an Xbox race car game and applied the principles to languages. Just imagine, exciting programs to learn French!

OK, I’ll be honest, it’s not exactly high-speed action-packed chases behind the wheel of a Ferrari – but compared to what was available even a few years ago, modern French learning software is a big leap forward and it can have you confidently speaking French in just a few months.

So is it really exciting or am I exaggerating? OK, maybe it’s not going to get your heart thumping but if you choose the right program then yes, it really can be quite absorbing and, as we all know, if you’re being entertained you’ll not only learn French fast, you’ll learn it more thoroughly too.

It’s not too long ago that about the only practical option for learning to speak French was either getting lessons or some rather expensive pre-recorded tapes. The trouble is it’s difficult to find the time to regularly attend French lessons and the tapes were, let’s face it, pretty boring.

Now we have a wealth of options. You can learn French on CD or MP3. You can learn French online. You can learn French with software you can download. There are programs of French for kids, programs with interactive movie clips, French language games to challenge and educate you. Just about all the tricks your PC can perform have been incorporated in one way or another into French language software programs.

There’s a big choice in prices too. With internet access you can actually start learning French online for free. It’s my personal experience that you soon exceed what’s being offered and have to pay to go further, but you might as well take advantage of what’s available before you need to put your hand in your pocket.

Beyond that you can find children’s French CDs for around ten or twenty dollars. For adult French lessons you do have to go a bit further, and in fact you can spend several hundred dollars on programs that have beginner, intermediate and advanced collections. I’m not entirely sure this is necessary though. There are mid range programs – say around a hundred dollars – that can get you to a pretty good level of French without breaking the bank. When you compare that to the price of lessons, it represents quite exceptional value for money.

With so many exciting programs to learn French now available it is a little difficult to make a choice. I haven’t tried them all – it would be almost impossible given the number available – but with some you can get free trial lessons or samples that will help you make up your mind.

The fastest way to learn how to speak French is by listening to people speaking French. You can go to a French speaking country to learn, which is the expensive option, or you can use a language course with audio files, the cheaper option.

You need to be motivated to speak French

To start learning how to speak French you must have a reason. People don’t normally pluck a language out of the air and say, ” I’ll learn this one”. The reason, what ever it may be, is a good starting motivation and in fact, it could keep you motivated throughout the learning process. For example, you might have a job interview in France and you need to communicate in French to secure the job, this is a strong motivation. Whatever your motivation, remember its this, that started the interest in learning to speak French, so use it to keep yourself interested.

Use audio lessons to learn

Using audio is by far, the easiest and fastest way to learn how to speak French. Modern French learning courses use interactive audio files, which means you listen, speak and repeat. The more you hear the French language, the easier it gets and the more understanding you have about the sounds you are hearing. This is how children learn to speak there native language, they are listening to there parents speaking every day then eventually they repeat what they are hearing.

Listening is the key to success for adults

It’s a fact that when children learn to speak for the first time they are in the correct environment for learning, they are listening and learning all the time and listening is the key. Even if you don’t know what you’re listening to, your brain is trying to make sense of it and as adults, we have less time to just sit and listen, but with modern technology such as iPods, mp3 players and even the car stereo there is more opportunity to just listen to French being spoken.

When learning to speak French make sure your chosen course has audio lessons or move to France and listen to the real thing.
